A Thief in the Night.

This is the direct description of Christ's Second Coming because no one knows when this will happen. Some people think they have figured out exactly when that will be. You may have seen the billboards along the side of the road. I don't question the sincerity of the people who put those signs up, but I'm convinced they're wrong. There will be no billboards along the highway. There will be no Mayan calendars announcing the end of the world. Just as thieves arrive unexpectedly, Jesus will return without warning.

There are two key passages that address this subject. 1 Thessalonians 5:2 says, "For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night." A second passage is Revelation 3:3, "Remember therefore what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. If therefore you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you." Jesus, in the Olivet discourse, tells us to watch for the signs and uses the fig tree as an example. In Matthew 24:32-33 He says, "Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; even so you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door." He goes on in verse 36 to tell us that we do not know the day or the hour, but as Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:1, we do know the times and the seasons.

These prophecy has shown millions of proofs and evidences through the works of Christians today. We may recognize the "signs of the times," but we will not be able to determine when Jesus Christ will return. The Olivet Sermon is divided into two major sections: first, Jesus dealt with the impending destruction of Jerusalem, and the “signs” that would herald that event second, he spoke of his final return, and the lack of signs that would characterize that occasion.

As they sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples asked the Lord when “these things” would be and what would be the “sign” of his coming and the end of the world. They likely assumed that the destruction of the temple and the end of the world would occur at the same time. Christ, in the discourse to follow, sought to correct their misconception.

Rapture

This word is not in the Bible. But it refers to the snatching away of believers from the earth mentioned in 1 Thess. 4:17,
Then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord. According to the Wikipedia, The Greek New Testament uses the Greek term parousia (meaning "arrival", "coming", or "presence") twenty-four times, seventeen of them concerning Christ.

About the Signs

1. The coming of Christ will be instantaneous and worldwide. "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." —Matthew 24:27
2. The coming of Christ will be visible to all. "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." —Matthew 24:30
3. The coming of Christ will be audible. "And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." —Matthew 24:31
4. The resurrection of the righteous will occur. "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first." —1 Thessalonians 4:16
5. In one single event, the saved who are alive at Christ's coming will be caught up together with the resurrected to meet the Lord in the air. "Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." —1 Thessalonians 4:17

As we saw above, no one but the Father knows when. However, we do know it will take place "as lightning." Matthew 24:27 says, "For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man." In Matthew 24:36, Jesus said only God the Father knows when. God is outside time. God already knows every prediction regarding Jesus' return that has ever been or will ever be made. Since Jesus said that no one knows about that day but the Father, NO ONE KNOWS!

This is the reason why Christians today are more aggressive in winning the lost souls to Christ. The days are evil and the chances are few, we must do actions as early as now before we regret it. We have the knowledge more than they have, we should be the first one who will lead them to the light. God is merciful and he still keep that until now, but God is also just. He is equal to them that obey and disobey his will. He will come quickly and unexpectedly. He will judge the world according to their deeds and we will meet him very soon. Therefore, we should remain faithful in serving him, Christ's return is near and we will celebrate for that moment, it will be A GREAT DAY!
